Combined Utilization of Cylinder and Different Shaped Alumina Nanoparticles in the Base Fluid for the Effective Cooling System Design of Lithium-Ion Battery Packs

It is important to consider the thermal management of lithium-ion batteries overcome their limitations in usage and improve performance life cycles. In this study, a novel cooling system for battery packs proposed by using an inner cylinder channel different-shaped nanoparticles base fluid, which used as medium. The improvements 20 Ah capacity are compared water–boehmite alumina (AlOOH) nanofluid, considering cylinder-, brick-, blade-shaped up solid volume fraction 2%. numerical analysis conducted finite element method, Reynolds numbers between 100 600 considered. When efficacy coolants utilized compared, it apparent that number increases, both media decrease highest temperature homogenize temperatures battery. utilization mini-channel results 2 °C drop at Re = flat channel. A boehmite nanofluid with 2% reduces maximum 5.1% 200. shape effect examined, noted cylinder-shaped particle improves 4.93% 7.32% brick-shaped nanoparticles. Thus, combined containing cylindrical-shaped medium provides effective pack. outcomes work helpful further design optimization studies related management.
